UNITED FC MICHIGAN & SPORTING MICHIGAN GIRL’S PROGRAMS JOIN FORCES IN ECNL

Birmingham/Rochester, MI; 3/1/2022

Sporting Michigan and United FC Michigan are excited to announce the formation of SPORTING UNITED, which brings together the U13-U19 Girls programs from each club

and will participate in the ECNL Regional League (Heartland Conference). The ECNL-R is a top developmental, identification, and competition platform for female soccer players in the United States.

The combined programs, along with aspiring players from outside the two clubs, will provide our female players the opportunity to compete against the top players and teams from around the country, gain college exposure throughout the year at regional and national showcases and events, and grow on and off the field.

Sporting United FC has been founded to enhance the playing experience and developmental opportunities for youth female soccer players in the greater Detroit area.

By providing top level training, facilities, staff, and identification opportunities through regional and national competitions, Sporting United FC will increase access to the sport as well as provide the competitive platform for aspiring female players to pursue their goals and ambitions.

United FC founder Ian Fairbrother added, “We are very excited to enter into this exciting program with our girls program with our good friends at Sporting.”

Sporting Michigan Technical Director John Phillips said, “The two clubs powering this joint venture, Sporting Michigan and United FC, share common values, goals, and ambitions, and we are excited about what the future holds for our female players.”

United FC Michigan founder Andy Chapman expressed, “We are very excited about this new joint venture with Sporting Michigan.”
